Objectives

A shadow toll road scheme to be procured on a DBFO basis (design, build, operate and finance). It will cover 94 km of road including c. 48 km of new road, the balance consisting of refurbishments.

Through improving road standards and increasing road capacity, the project will improve flows of passenger and freight traffic. Immediate benefits will be reductions in travel time and in vehicle operating costs, as well as improvements in traffic safety.

Compliance with EU environmental directives and national laws will be ensured.

The project has been advertised in the Official Journal of the EU in accordance with EU Directive 93/37/EEC.
