Poland: With €600 million loan, EIB is the main financier behind new offshore wind farm
The European Investment Bank (EIB) will contribute €600 million and become the largest lender to the construction of BC-Wind, a 390 MW offshore wind windfarm in the Baltic Sea set to supply nearly half a million Polish households and businesses with clean power. Developed by Ocean Winds, an ENGIE and EDPR joint venture, the wind farm will sit over 20 kilometres off Poland’s western coast and is expected to start production in 2028. It marks the fourth major offshore project backed by the EIB in Poland, and the third one signed in the country just this year.
Poland: EIB extends over PLN 200 million to University of Silesia
The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the University of Silesia have signed a financing agreement worth PLN 206 million. This will allow the university based in Poland’s southern city of Katowice to renovate and expand two of its campuses, adding an interdisciplinary chemical laboratory, a biotechnology and biodiversity centre, green spaces and parking facilities. This is the latest agreement concluded in Poland under TechEU, the EIB Group's flagship programme to foster innovation, develop advanced technologies and boost the European Union’s economic competitiveness.
Poland: EIB Group ramps up support for technological innovation
The EIB Group is significantly increasing support to develop technological innovation in Poland. On 14 November, the development bank of the EU announced its participation in the national investment mobilisation programme Innovate Poland, granted strategic financing to cutting-edge tech company Synerise, and launched cooperation with PFR on a new digital platform that helps innovative projects access available funding.
