The agricultural sector has proved to be broadly resilient and robust during the Covid-19 crisis. The sector continues to face with a number of short- and long-term challenges, however, such as the impact of the coronavirus crisis on some sub-sectors, the growing demand for healthier food, a generational change of guard among farmers, soil degradation, food waste, pollution and climate change. Investments in rural areas, innovation and agricultural supply chains will be crucial to overcoming those challenges. Over the last five years, the EIB Group has expanded and diversified its financing and advisory tools to support the sector in its evolution and transformation.

The webinar will discuss the EIB Group’s agricultural activities and the outlook for the next years. Andrew McDowell, Vice-President at the European Investment Bank, and Roger Havenith, Deputy Chief Executive of the European Investment Fund, will give the opening address. They will be followed by a keynote speech by Kostas Skrekas, Deputy Minister for Rural Development and Food of Greece and presentations by senior EIB experts. The event will also include Q&A sessions.
