ACP ambassadors visit the EIB

The Cotonou Agreement foresees the presentation of the Investment Facility Annual Report to the ACP Committee of Ambassadors on an annual basis. This took place for the first time last year at the ACP Secretariat in Brussels – this year, Vice President Plutarchos Sakellaris, responsible for operations in the ACPs gave the presentation at the EIB headquarters in Luxembourg. The visitors were first given a guided tour of the new building, with an introduction by EIB Secretary General, Alfonso Querejeta, before being officially welcomed over a lunch hosted by President Philippe Maystadt.

The visit coincides with a meeting of the Investment Facility Committee, which comprises representatives of the EU Member States as well as of the European Commission, and convenes regularly to discuss and approve current operations and other IF policy or strategy issues. This is a rare opportunity for a large number of key players in the ACP operating environment to gather in a more informal atmosphere, conducive to constructive dialogue.
