Global loan to finance pollution abatement investments of industrial enterprises, predominantly in the greater Alexadria and greater Cairo areas.

Objectives

The investment programme aims at pollution reduction in the emissions of air and effluent pollutants of up to 75% for the involved industries.

Environmental aspects

Investments concern pollution abatement in existing industries. Some industries could solve their problems through introduction of clean technology. As most investments are expected within the premises of existing industries very few, if any, are expected to require an EIA.

Procurement procedures will be in line with the EIB’s guidelines for procurement.
