Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer, visited the European Investment Bank on the occasion of his official one-day visit to Luxembourg on October 11, 2007. After EIB President Mr. Philippe Maystadt welcomed Mr. Gusenbauer and his delegation, a working meeting took place during which issues of common interest related to EIB operations in Austria and the Western Balkans were discussed. Furthermore, Mr Gusenbauer and Mr Maystadt exchanged their views on EIB support to projects implementing EU policy objectives such as the minimising of the climate change and the development of the TEN infrastructure in central Europe. EIB Group promotes biodiversity in Europe with €60 million guarantee for Sienna Investment Managers fund
The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group is providing a €60 million guarantee to asset manager Sienna IM to increase financing for biodiversity in Europe. The support is being provided by the EIF, part of the EIB Group, to cover financing by the Sienna Biodiversity Private Credit Fund[1], a fund devoted to restoring and protecting biodiversity in Europe. The EIF guarantee covers up to 70% of the credit risk of small and medium firms and is being granted under the InvestEU Sustainability Guarantee.

Italy: EIB and Eni sign €500 million in financing for new biorefinery in Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi
Today the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Eni signed a 15-year loan for €500 million to convert selected units of Eni’s Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi refinery, located in the Italian province of Pavia, into a biorefinery. The agreement was signed by EIB Vice-President Gelsomina Vigliotti and Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi.
