The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group is pressing ahead with phase two of its pioneering Climate Bank Roadmap phase two, staying the course as anchor financier of the green industrial revolution, energy security and shared prosperity. Building on the resounding success of the roadmap since its launch in 2020, the second phase sets out the EIB Group’s priorities through to the end of this decade, while radically simplifying its procedures to accelerate green investment.

The Boards of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Investment Fund (EIF) held meetings this week and approved a total of €7.1 billion in new financing to support the European Union’s (EU) technological leadership, boost investment in energy security and life sciences and back projects for climate adaptation and urban development in Italy, business support in Spain and sustainable transport in Greece.

More than 350,000 companies across Europe are set to make energy efficiency gains through a €17.5 billion financing initiative by the European Union. The energy efficiency for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) initiative, led by the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group and supported by the European Commission, seeks to help SMEs using proven energy-saving technologies to lower their energy bills and boost their resilience and competitiveness.
