Description

Financing of an RDI programme of components for a new generation of aircraft, the development of automated manufacturing system and construction of an assembly plant.

Objectifs

The project will contribute to increasing the promoter’s knowledge and know-how in the design, development and innovative manufacturing of lighter aircraft structures (composite), bringing about benefits through improved transportation efficiency, including environmental benefits through lower fuel consumption, mitigating the emission of CO2 and other harmful emissions. The promoter has aligned its technological programme with the ACARE (Advisory Council for Aeronautical Research in Europe) 2020 environment objectives. The technology programme is in line with EU policy on reducing pollutant emissions and will contribute to improving the competitiveness of the European aerospace industry.

Aspects environnementaux

The research and development activities are expected to be carried out at the promoter’s existing facilities, already authorised and for which an EIA is not required. The construction of a facility for the manufacture and assembly of aircraft and its components falls under Annex II of the EIA Directive 85/337/EEC, amended by Directives 97/11/EC and 2003/35/EC. The decision made by the competent authorities for requesting (or not) an EIA on the basis of the criteria set in Annex III of the Directive and actual/possible significant impacts on protected flora and fauna (Habitats’ and Birds’ Directives) will be verified during project appraisal.

Passation des marchés

Procurement is expected to be in line with EIB guidelines for private sector projects. The Bank’s services will verify details during the project’s due diligence.
