Description

The investment programme consists of budgeted expenses in the area of preservation of cultural heritage and tourism infrastructure between 2002 and 2006. The project is limited to expenses, which are funded by the state itself; additional funds from the federal government and EU Structural Funds will complement MVP funds.

Objectives

The programme comprises a range of measures destined to improve the tourism infrastructure, including related monuments of cultural heritage in MVP for the period 2002-2006. The programme focuses on five main areas of public infrastructure investment: nature protection and conservation, coastal protection, improvement of sewage systems, rehabilitation of roads & cycle paths, rehabilitation of buildings and monuments.

Up to EUR 807 million, to be verified during appraisal.

Environmental aspects

Decisions will be taken by the relevant authorities in line with EU Directive 97/11/EEC in respect of whether or not an Environmental Impact Assessment is required.

Procurement

In respect of procurement for public works, EU Directives (93/37/EEC) are embedded in German Federal Law.
