    Description
    Objectives

Pan-EU linked risk sharing supply chain finance operation for the ultimate benefit of small and medium-sized enterprises, mid-caps and EU strategic sectors.

The objective is to improve access to finance to final beneficiaries.

    Additionality and Impact

The operation concerns a guarantee scheme under which the EIB will support a pan-European supply chain financing program of Santander, enabling strong supply chain ecosystems in strategic sectors aligned with TechEU priorities, as well as access to finance at favorable conditions for SMEs and MidCaps through reverse factoring (also referred to as "Confirming Lines"). Access to finance is improved for SMEs, MidCaps and Strategic Sector, benefitting both buyers and their suppliers through increased or new confirming lines, which may include lines for higher-risk buyers, and possibly by more favorable finance conditions for the buyer and/or the supplier. EIB support focuses on sharing the credit risk of the new Confirming Line while granting the intermediary flexibility in origination, ensuring tailored structuring and efficient deployment.
