Implementation of a monopolar High Voltage Direct Current link interconnecting Norway and Denmark across the Skagerrak strait including two terminal converter stations located in Kristiansand (Norway) and Tjele (Denmark), 140 km of undersea cable and 102 km of land cable.
The purpose is to increase the transmission capacity between Denmark and Norway to allow more electricity trade between the Norwegian and the European continental markets – essentially the markets in Denmark and Germany.
The project received all the necessary environmental approvals by the competent authorities in both Norway and Denmark. No significant long-term impacts are expected to result from project construction and operation.
In line with the requirements of the EU Directive 2004/17/EC, the procurement of the project has followed negotiated procedures with prior publication of calls for qualification in the OJEU.
