Objectives

Construction of a multi-purpose laboratory and an adjacent office building, including laboratory support functions, to be used by companies in the fields of pharmaceutical research and biotechnology.

The project will help to increase the competitiveness and added value of a European industry and its industrial clients. The final user of the facilities is a global player in pharmaceutical research and drug development. Given the final user’s competences in R&D and role in diffusion of innovative processes and technologies, financing the underlying R&D-efforts corresponds to the Bank’s objectives set forth in the Innovation 2000 Initiative.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

The project does not require an EIA under EC Directive 97/11.All the laboratory facilities will be equipped with advanced technology analysis and experimentation systems and will operate in strict compliance with national standards for health, safety and environment.

The procurement procedures for civil works and equipment consisted of national and international enquiries amongst a group of pre-qualified suppliers.
