Description

No final de 2005, compouco mais de dois anos e meio de actividades, a FI tinha comprometido EUR 829 milhões, ou 41% da sua dotação de capital inicial de EUR 2037 milhões, que se destinaramao financiamento de 48 projectos situados em 23 países diferentes da região ACP. Destes 48 projectos, 13 tinham um âmbito regional: 4 cobriam toda a região ACP, 7 centravam-se em África e 2 destinavam-se a projectos de investimento no Pacífico e nas caraíbas, respectivamente. Além disso, já foram aprovados financiamentos no valor total de EUR 301 milhões, que aguardam assinatura.

Os contratos de financiamento assinados em 2005 ascenderam EUR 351 milhões; as verbas destinaram-se ao financiamento de 25 projectos situados em 15 países diferentes, sendo 5 projectos de âmbito regional.

O montante cumulado dos desembolsos ascendeu a EUR 211 milhões, representando 25% dos contratos já assinados e correspondendo a 2 projectos; o desembolso já foi completado em relação a 7 destes projectos.

OBanco também comprometeu uma verba de EUR 219 milhões a cargode recursos próprios para 9 projectos diferentes, tendo já sido desembolsados aproximadamente EUR 20 milhões. Temos assim que o total de compromissos e de desembolsos efectuados pelo Banco ao abrigo do Acordo de cotonou ascende a EUR 1 048 milhões e EUR 232 milhões, respectivamente.

As Facilidades de Financiamento ACP e PTU («as FI») são instrumentos de assunção de risco, que têm como missão investir emsituaçõesemque os investidores do sector privado hesitam em o fazer e desta forma, suprir as carências de financiamento existentes no mercado.A Facilidade de Investimento paralela para os Países e Territórios ultramarinos (PTU) foi instituída em conformidade com a decisão do conselho de 27 de Novembro de 2001 («Decisão de Associação ultramar»), relativa à associação dos PTU com a comunidade europeia, com vista a «promover empresas comercialmente viáveis, principalmente do sector privado, mas igualmente empresas do sector público que apoiem o desenvolvimento do sector privado» nos 20 PTU situados nas caraíbas e nos oceanos Pacífico e Atlântico Norte e Sul, que podem beneficiar de ajuda financeira da comunidade europeia.
