    Investment loan for English education Public/Private Partnership projects procured under the "Building Schools for the Future" programme.

    Objectives

    The "Building Schools for the Future" programme, launched by the English Government in 2004, is aimed at rebuilding or remodelling every state secondary school in England (around 3,500 in total).

    Environmental aspects

    In principle, educational projects are not covered by Directive 97/11/EC but they can be included in the Annex II as Urban Development projects. The need of an EIA is to be clarified during appraisal.

    Procurement

    All projects are being procured following the established UK PFI procedures.
