    Objectives

    Private equity fund targeting investments into small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-caps active in the financial services sector in Africa and Asia.

    The fund will provide equity financing to companies active at all levels of the financial services sector, including the relevant infrastructure, entailing as a result the strengthening of the sector infrastructure, and ultimately the provision of more affordable financial services to previously unbanked portions of population, fostering inclusive growth to the benefit of the broader economy.

    The Bank will ensure that the project meets the social standards of the EIB and participating international financial institutions (IFIs). During appraisal the Bank’s services will verify the application of the relevant rules and procedures established by the fund and ensure that the projects financed by the fund follow the EIB’s social principles and standards.
