The loan will support the Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Agency (SASEMAR) in purchasing several vessels of different type and one helicopter.
The acquisition of 8 high-speed response crafts (Salvamares), 1 mid-size rapid response vessel (Guardamar), 2 salvage tugs, and 1 rescue helicopter will contribute to SASEMAR's maritime traffic control, marine environment protection as well as maritime search and rescue operations (including assistance to vessels).
The acquisition of mobile (marine and aerial) assets does not fall under Annex I or II or the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive 2011/92/EU (as amended by Directive 2014/52/EU).
The promoter has to ensure that contracts for implementation of the project will be tendered in accordance with the applicable EU procurement legislation, Directive 2014/24/EU as interpreted by the Court of Justice of the EU, with publication of tender notices in the EU Official Journal, as and where required.
