Description
Objectives

The operation consists of an equity investment in the senior tranche of Kuali Fund, an impact fund which will invest in debt and equity in financial institutions and climate solution providers in India and Latin America. The EUR 300m target fund, promoted by GAWA Capital, a Spanish Fund Manager, has a blended finance structure, where EIB would co-invest alongside the European Commission, the Spanish Development Cooperation (AECID) and the UN Green Climate Fund.

Through its investments, Kuali fund aims to facilitate the creation of an ecosystem enabling smallholder farmers, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) as well as other impacted rural communities in India and Latin America to access to climate solutions adapted to their needs. To maximise its effectiveness, the fund will be accompanied by a Technical Assistance Facility, funded by the EU, that will share knowledge, skills, expertise and resources on green lending and innovative climate solutions.
