Objectives

Reconstruction of a 29km long section of the M5 TEN-T road between Balti and Riscani. The project involves widening to 2+2 lanes and includes construction of five bridges and three grade-separated interchanges.

This is a large allocation under MOLDOVA ROADS IV Framework Loan (2020-0537) signed on 31.03.2022 for EUR 150m. The project concerns the reconstruction of a 29km section of the M5 TEN-T Extended Core Network Road between Balti and Riscani. The project will improve accessibility, level of service and traffic safety on the corridor. Besides, the Project will improve the resilience of the transport corridor to climate change impacts.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

The project involves upgrade of an existing road, predominantly within the existing right of way. The screening out decision was issued by the Environmental Agency (Environmental Agreement No. 10/1190/2023). The Authority does not expect project to have significant negative impact on the environment.

The procurement of work and services contracts financed by the Bank will be in line with the relevant sections of the EIB Guide to Procurement.
