Summary sheet
The project will finance part of an investment programme managed by the Indonesian Ministry of Defence to upgrade and improve the health facilities serving the general population of Indonesia. The programme covers the upgrade of medical equipment and related facilities, as well as infrastructure investments such as building construction, renovation and energy efficiency rehabilitation for hospitals, primary health clinics, research centres and laboratories.
The aim is to strengthen the health system in the country, by improving the availability and affordability of medical care, supporting research, vaccine development and production, as well as shock responsiveness. The project will contribute directly to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3:(Good health and well-being).
The project entails components related to building renovation and energy efficiency rehabilitation, although the majority of the costs at this stage are linked to equipment. The EIB will require that implementation of the financed investments comply with the national legislation, the EIB's Environmental and Social Standards, as well as the international treaties and conventions signed and ratified by/or applicable and binding in the country.
The EIB will require that the project implementation will be done in accordance with the EIB's Guide to Procurement.
