Summary sheet
Co-financing of small, medium and large investment schemes in the City of Gdansk as part of the city's multi-year investment plan. The investments will mainly be focused on road infrastructure and some elements of urban renewal and coastal protection.
The city is located in the Pomorskie Voivodeship (province) classified by the EU as a less-developed region in the 2014-2020 programming period and eligible for the Bank under the EIB Cohesion Priority Regions objective. The project supports the city's 2030+ development strategy, which aims to create a high quality of life in a friendly, accessible and safe urban environment. The project's support of investments in urban infrastructure and facilities will contribute to the sustainable development of the city and enhancement of the overall conditions for life and business in the city.
Some of the schemes might fall under Annex I or Annex II of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive 2011/92/EU. If any scheme should have a negative impact on an area forming part of Natura 2000 network, falling under the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC or Birds Directive 79/409/EEC, the Bank would require the promoter to act according to the provisions of the aforementioned directives as transposed into national law. Procedures for compliance of the project with applicable environmental directives will be verified during appraisal.
The promoter, as a public administration entity, is required to follow EU public procurement rules (Directive 2004/17/EC and 2007/18/EC), as implemented by national law, including publication of contract notices in the Official Journal of the EU if and where appropriate. Procurement procedures and their compliance with EU directives will be verified during appraisal.
