Description
Objectives

Financing of Barco's R&D in the next generation of electronic projectors and display technologies.

The project RDI will contribute to the development of innovative projection, display and networking solutions that can be applied across industries such as healthcare, transportation, and cinema – supporting the European competitiveness both in the ICT and the photonics sector.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

R&D facilities used for Display and Imaging R&D are not specifically covered by Annexes I & II of EU Directive 85/337/EEC, as amended by 97/11/EC, 2003/35/EC and 2009/31/EC, and therefore are not subject to mandatory Environmental Impact Assessment. The proposed investments will mainly take place inside buildings at R&D facilities already being used for similar activities, and are not expected to have a significant environmental impact on the surroundings.

The promoter is a private company not operating in the Utilities sector, and is thus not covered by EU Directives on procurement. Full procurement procedures will be assessed during appraisal.

Comments

The Risk Sharing Finance Facility (RSFF) is an innovative credit risk sharing scheme jointly set up by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank to improve access to debt financing for private companies or public institutions promoting activities with a higher financial risk profile in the fields of research, technological development, demonstration and innovation investments.
