Description
Objectives

Investment programme comprising a series of investments in environmental and operational safety improvement in Slovakia.

The financing of this project would primarily contribute to the EU’s priority policy on security and diversification of energy supply.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

The project components are subject to environmental assessments as required by the EIA Directive 85/337/EC and amendments of 1997 and 2003. The technical nature of the components (pipelines and compressors) suggests that the Hungary-Slovakia interconnector scheme falls under Annex I (mandatory EIA), while the other schemes fall under Annex II of the Directive (implying a screening by the competent authority at planning/consent stage).

The investments under the project are subject to the procurement provisions defined in Directive 2004/17/EC for entities operating in the water, energy, transport and postal services sectors, transposed into the Public Procurement Act 25/2006. The promoter declared to follow the Directive and to carry out calls for tenders accordingly.
