Summary sheet
The project concerns part financing of Alcatel-Lucent’s research and development expenses in the [2009-2012] period.
The project is focused on research themes in optical and microwave transmission networks. This segment aims at developing the next generation transport technologies which are driven by the exponential growth of the global data traffic planned in the next years.
R&D facilities used for telecommunications R&D are not specifically covered by Annexes I & II of EU Directive 97/11/EC, as amended by 2003/35/EC, and therefore not subject to an Environmental Impact Assessment. The proposed investments will mainly take place inside buildings at R&D facilities already being used for similar activities, and are not expected to have a significant environmental impact.
The promoter is a private company not operating in the Utilities sector, and is thus not covered by EU Directives on procurement.
