Description
Objectives

The project concerns the purchase of TER regional express trains.

To increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of public rail transport in the Upper Normandy Region.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

The project will contribute to enhancing the attractiveness of rail in comparison with road transport. This will result in a reduction in the number of journeys undertaken by private vehicles and limit the harmful effects associated with this mode of transport (accidents, local atmospheric pollution and noise).

Like the other French regions that have submitted projects to the Bank resulting from the regionalisation of rail transport, the Upper Normandy Region enters into agreements with SNCF for the purchase of regional express trains selected by the latter following European tendering procedures. Details of the calls for tenders and the publication of notices in the EU Offical Journal will be obtained and verified during appraisal.
