Objectives

The project concerns construction and operation of a new 470 kt p.a. production line for containerboard and an integrated converting plant with a capacity of 250 million m2 p.a. for corrugated board located in the promoter’s existing pulp and paper mill in Central Europe. 

The project is located in Central Europe ( Poland or Czech Republic) within an EU convergence area and directly promotes increasing paper collection rates and higher utilisation of waste paper .

Environmental aspects
Procurement

The project falls under Annex I of the EIA Directive 85/337/EEC, amended by Directives 97/11/EC and 2003/35/EC, and therefore an EIA is mandatory. Full environmental details will be assessed during the appraisal, including possible impacts on protected flora and fauna (Habitats’ 92/43/EEC and Birds’ 79/409/EEC Directives).

The promoter is a private company that is not operating in the Utilities sector, and is thus not covered by EU Directives on procurement.
