Objectives

Five-year investment programme in the field of wastewater collection and treatment.

The project seeks to improve the treatment ratio and the treatment quality of waste water throughout Israel.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

Permission procedures for water projects in Israel are sufficiently in line with EU standards. EIA guidelines emulate EU law. The state of Israel prepared maps of areas of specific environmental interest and especially sensitive areas. Planning procedures consider these areas and appropriate impact mitigation measures are in place.

The project concerns works and public services in the wastewater sector. EU directives (if applicable) would require works, services and supplies to be tendered under public procurement 2004/18/EC. Depending on the size of the projects they will have to be internationally and competitively tendered. The Bank will require the promoter to ensure that implementation of the project will be done in compliance with the Bank’s Guide to Procurement.
