Objectives

The proposed project consists of the small and medium schemes included in SMAT’s 2005-2010 investment programme.

The works are aimed at improving water supply service levels, reducing water losses, extending wastewater collection and improving wastewater treatment in line with the standards of EU directives and Italian legislation.

Procurement

The overall health and environmental impacts of the project are deemed to be positive. The Bank will require that the Promoter respects the EIA Directives (85/337/EEC and 97/11/EC), if applicable.

The Bank will require the Promoter to ensure that contracts for the implementation of the project have been and shall be tendered in accordance with the relevant applicable EU procurement legislation.
