Description
Objectives

The project consists of the construction of the central section (13 km, 37 stations) of the first tramline in the Toulon conurbation. It also comprises a number of civil engineering structures, improvements to existing road infrastructure and urban development schemes. It includes the acquistion of 28 trams.

The project forms part of the Urban Transport Plan adopted by the competent local authorities and aims to enhance the attractiveness of public transport in urban areas, thus helping to improve the environment and quality of life.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

In accordance with national legislation, the project has been the subject of an environmental impact assessment in connection with the Declaration of Public Interest. Once completed, it will help to reduce car traffic pollution while benefiting local tourism and facilitating travel.

The Metropolitan Community of Toulon Provence Méditerranée is subject to European procurement directives. All works contracts for projects financed by the Bank will be awarded in accordance with the provisions of EU law.
