Objectives

Global Loan for infrastructure projects in the broadest sense to cover water, sanitation, electricity, connector services, urban renewal, access roads, etc.

The project aims to alleviate poverty across South Africa. DBSA plays a key role in programmes that provide basic services (in particular those being the object of this global loan) to communities via provincial and local governmental structures, by offering those structures not only financing at affordable rates but also technical assistance, capacity building, private/public sector facilitation, development information and policy research, analysis and support.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

South Africa has a stringent Environmental Legislation and DBSA’s environmental assessment practices are in line with international best practice.

All provincial and local authorities have procurement guidelines, which are comparable with EU directives.
