Summary sheet
The project comprises investments into a large number of sub-projects in Saxony-Anhalt proposed by the water and wastewater associations and to be approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. The majority of measures concern the extension and upgrading of sewerage networks and wastewater treatment plants.
The project aims at enhancing the water and wastewater associations' efficiency and complements Saxony-Anhalt's strategy for restructuring the water sector.
The project contributes to compliance with all relevant environmental, water and wastewater directives of the EU, particularly with the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive 91/271/EEC. Sub-projects are screened and, if required, are subject to Environmental Impact Assessments in line with national regulations and EU directives.
The works will be carried out in line with EU procurement directives as applicable, on the basis of competitive bidding.
