Objectives

To build and operate a nationwide 3rd generation mobile telecommunication network (UMTS) in Portugal on the basis of a 15-years license and to upgrade the existing GSM/GPRS network.

The project will allow for the development of advanced mobile transmission capabilities, significantly contributing to broaden the range of information services available to mobile communication end-users.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

GSM/UMTS systems have limited environmental effects, apart from the visual impact of base station towers. Other impacts can be mitigated by appropriate construction and operation measures.

The promoter carries out competitive enquires, among potential suppliers for goods and services, as is usual in this industry.
