The project concerns the development of Oporto's Sá Carneiro airport and comprises the expansion of aprons and taxiway system, the relocation of the fire fighting station, of the Control Tower (ATC), new maintenance and support areas facilities, the expansion and refurbishment of the existing terminal building and the landside development of access roads and car parking.
The expansion will increase the airport capacity in a first stage from 2.7 up to 6 million passengers per year, with a concept design allowing a further phased expansion of the airport infrastructures aimed at meeting projected demand growth and at strengthening the leadership position of the airport in the Northern Iberian Peninsula Region.
The project is designed to meet all relevant environmental laws and regulation.
Award of works, equipment supply and services contracts will comply with national and EU legislation.
