On 21 September 2016, the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia appointed Ms Mateja Vraničar ERMAN as Minister of Finance. On 13 October 2016, following the decision by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, Ms ERMAN also became Governor of the European Investment Bank for the Republic of Slovenia.

Before her appointment as Minister of Finance, Ms ERMAN served since 2013 as State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, mainly responsible for customs and tax systems as well as State budget. 

Ms ERMAN held the same portfolio as State Secretary from 2010 to 2012.

Ms ERMAN joined the Ministry of Finance in 1993, where she held various positions including as Head of the Indirect Taxation Section and subsequently Head of the Department for Tax and Customs Policy and Legislation in the Directorate for the System of Tax, Customs and Other Public Finance Revenues. Ms ERMAN was also in charge of the coordination and preparation of the first Slovenian Customs Act and relevant implementing regulations. From 1989 to 1993, Ms ERMAN worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ms ERMAN graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana. She holds a Master of Public Administration studies from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
