The European Investment Bank is providing EUR 65 million for the motorway section between Banja Luka and Gradiska and for a new bridge over the Sava River. The 29 km-long four-lane motorway will allow to directly access Corridor X, a major European motorway axis. The new road link will help to revitalise the country's economy and deepen regional integration by facilitating flows of goods and passengers between Central Europe and the Adriatic Sea.

The EIB 25-year loan will complement budgetary funds, EBRD financing (EUR 30 million) and a grant from the Italian Trust Fund for Transport (EUR 400 thousand).

The project is expected to be completed by end 2010.
