The Ministry of Energy of Bulgaria and the European Investment Bank (EIB) are organising an online workshop dedicated to energy finance in Bulgaria.
Meeting the EU climate and energy targets will require massive investment in the energy sector and support to regions transitioning away from fossil fuels.
Bulgaria’s National Energy and Climate Plan and the national strategy foresee investments across the energy sector: hydropower, solar photovoltaic plants, renovation and expansion of the electricity networks and district heating infrastructure. Investment in energy efficiency in the country also presents an important potential to reduce emissions as well as energy bills.
The dialogue between government officials, industry, the European Commission and the EIB will offer an opportunity to discuss how the EIB can, under its new Energy Lending Policy, best support Bulgaria in order to deliver on the National and European Energy and Climate Targets.
The workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of EU priorities, financing instruments and available technical assistance.
The EU has set up several mechanisms and funds to support its energy and climate policy. It has also announced that 37% of the funding under NextGenerationEU will be invested in European Green Deal objectives. As the EU climate bank, the EIB provides advisory services and financing to the public and private sectors through a wide range of products.
