    Proud to be European

This Europe Day was unlike years past. It was set against a backdrop of unprecedented change in everything from the way our economies work, to our longstanding alliances. As we enter this new era, we, as Europeans, have much to be proud of. This is because we invest. We invest in opportunity. We invest in our shared security and prosperity. We invest in stability. But most of all, we invest in each other. Because we know that unity is our strength.

    What is Europe Day?

Europe Day celebrates the signing of the Schuman Declaration on 9 May 1950, an ambitious plan to secure long-term peace in post-war Europe. The text is widely considered to be the foundation of what is now the European Union. We at the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group play a key role in the European Union by supporting its policies and values.
