    Objectives

    Rehabilitation of the Margit bridge and the connecting transport system in Budapest. The bridge is part of the national cultural heritage, an important connection between the two sides of the city center over the Danube also providing access through a wing-bridge to the Margit Island, a central recreation area.

    The project will contribute to improving the service level for the public transport and the non-motorised individual traffic, including construction of cycle paths, while preserving the bridge’s functionality to serve individual car traffic.

    The project has not been classified under Annex I or Annex II of the EIA Directive by the local competent authority. Compliance with environmental legislation will be verified during appraisal, notably for environmental impact and nature conservation aspects.

    The Promoter is a public company obliged to comply with the European and National Public Procurement legislation.
