Environmental aspects
Procurement

The project is classified under Annex I of EIA Directive 85/337EEC as amended by Directive 97/11/EC and 2003/35/EC, thus requiring formal Environmental Impact Assessment process. A number of protected areas which may be impacted have been identified in the vicinity of the airport for which suitable protection and mitigation measures have been established. The promoter has confirmed that the project has been subject to a full EIA process. The Bank will assess during appraisal compliance with both the EIA and Habitats directives.

Procurement procedures applied by the promoter are in compliance with EU Directives applicable to public authorities’ procurement, and national legislation. Under these conditions, the procurement procedures followed by the promoter are both suitable for the project and satisfactory to the Bank.
