The project consists of the construction of the first section (7.9 km) of the Paris circle tramway, in the south of the capital.
The project aims to check the constant increase in car traffic and enhance the attractiveness of public transport in urban areas compared to private vehicle transport.
In accordance with national legislation, the project has undergone an environmental impact assessment as part of the Public Interest Declaration process. Once completed, it will help to reduce the various types of nuisance associated with car traffic, while at the same time benefiting local tourism and making it easier for people to get around.
The City of Paris is a local authority subject to EU procurement directives. All works contracts financed by the Bank will be issued in line with the provisions of European Union law.
