    Description
    Objectives

Construction of fish processing plant in Nouadhibou designed to process fisheries resources into finished products ready for export.

To capture the high-end fisheries market through an industrial process which keeps fish fresh until reaching the final consumer.

    Environmental aspects
    Procurement

    The fisheries resources

required by the project are not obtained by intensive industrial fishing. The fishing methods used by small-scale fishermen (dugout canoes) are selective.
The inshore fishing fleet is under-employed and its development would promote landings at Nouadhibou within the limits of the port's current capacity.

Civil engineering and equipment suppliers will be selected on the basis of an international call for tenders in Mauritania and the EU countries. The Bank's rules will be complied with.
