        Description

        El presente informe abarca las operaciones desarrolladas por el BEI en los Estados ACP y PTU con cargo al Fondo de Inversión y a los recursos propios de la entidad en el marco del Acuerdo de Cotonú y de la Decisión de Asociación Ultramar. Con objeto de ofrecer una visión coherente y exhaustiva de las regiones, también se incluyen en el informe las operaciones realizadas en Sudáfrica, que se financian con arreglo a un mandato distinto y en virtud del Instrumento de Sostenibilidad Energética (Energy Sustainability Facility).

        En 2013, el volumen de operaciones aprobadas por el Banco se situó en casi 1 500 millones de EUR, el volumen de operaciones firmadas fue de alrededor 1 000 millones de EUR y el volumen de desembolsos realizados alcanzó prácticamente los 500 millones de EUR en los Estados ACP, PTU y Sudáfrica. Estos datos ponen de manifiesto una fuerte intensificación de la actividad, con excepción de los desembolsos, que han vuelto a situarse en sus niveles habituales tras dos años consecutivos de máximos históricos debido a una concentración de firmas de proyectos al cierre del ejercicio. Los proyectos firmados con cargo al Fondo de Inversión ACP aumentaron de nuevo, pasando de 355 millones de EUR registrados en 2012 a 471,5 millones de EUR en 2013, poniendo de relieve el papel tan fundamental que siguen desempeñando los préstamos al sector privado en las actividades del Banco en estas regiones.
