The EIB operates in the country in line with the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), the Eastern Partnership (EaP) and other EU bilateral agreements. In the last decade, the Bank has provided financing for a wide range of projects, from infrastructure and small businesses to water supply services and wastewater treatment.
We also fund cross-border connections to build safer and more sustainable roads. For example, the rehabilitation of the M6 interstate decreases traffic between Armenia and Georgia, improves road safety and promotes employment. Our transportation investments ensure easier access for passengers and faster connections for businesses.
The EIB also supports small businesses and promotes the development of the private sector, as well as creating and securing employment and income in rural areas. These operations, focused on agro-industry and sustainable tourism, are further enhanced by technical assistance.
In collaboration with the Municipality of Yerevan, the Bank is improving the energy efficiency of kindergartens and other buildings. The installation of renewable energy systems, earthquake reinforcement and disabled access infrastructure will provide jobs and help decrease CO2 emissions.
