    Description

    Construction and operations of photovoltaic (PV) installations on rooftops of social housing across the Flemish Region of Belgium.

    Objectives

    The rooftop installations produce electricity from low carbon sources (solar PV), contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and air pollution compared to fossil-fuel generation. The project increases the renewable energy generation capacity in Belgium and thus supports the EIB's priority objectives for energy sector lending related to renewable energy sources, as well as national and EU 2030 climate objectives.

    Environmental aspects

    The plants are located on the rooftops of properties, mostly private households, located in consolidated urban areas. No specific environmental permitting is expected to be required.

    Procurement

    The Bank will require the Promoter to ensure that contracts for implementation of the project have been tendered in accordance with the applicable EU procurement legislation, Directive 2014/24/EU, as well as Directive 89/665/EEC as interpreted by the Court of Justice of the EU with publication of tender notices in the Official Journal of the EU, as and where required.
