Description

The project consists of a 3-year investment programme (2009-2011) aimed at reinforcing and extending the promoter's transmission and distribution electricity networks throughout Estonia.

Objectives

The main purpose of the project is to cater for demand growth, to improve quality and reliability of electricity supply and to support the connection and the efficient exploitation of renewable generation resources.

EUR 150 million.

Total cost (Approximate amount)

The project cost is estimated to be EUR 410 million, EUR 300 million for distribution and EUR 110 million for transmission.

Environmental aspects

Some schemes will fall under Annex I of the EIA Directive while the remainder will fall under ANNEX II, leaving it to the national competent authority to decide whether an EIA would be required in line with the screening criteria specified in the directive.

Procurement

The promoter is subject to the Public Procurement Act of Estonia that came into force in May 2007 transposing the EU Directives on public procurement.
