Description
Construction of a 32-km dual 3-lane (2x3), toll motorway by-passing the City of Mestre, designed to flank an existing and highly congested road by-pass.
Objectives
The project forms part of the trans-European network (TEN-T) providing the main East - West motorway corridor across Northern Italy from Milan to Udine. It is expected to substantially improve the flow of passengers and freight traffic through the area by providing the extra capacity needed close to Mestre.

Environmental aspects
The project falls under Annex I of the EIA directive, making an environmental impact appraisal mandatory. The EIA procedures and resulting documentation will be reviewed during appraisal.
Procurement
Following a formal tender process, a consortium led by the Italian construction conglomerate Impregilo has been awarded the EPC contract for the project. The project has been tendered according to the specific 'General Contractor' provisions defined in the "Legge Obiettivo" 443/2001.
