    Refurbishment and upgrading of electricity transmission and distribution networks in Hungary.

    Objectives

    The project is expected to improve/maintain the efficiency and reliability of the Hungarian power supply system.

    Estimated at approximately EUR 500 m.

    Environmental aspects

    The environmental issues expected for the types of scheme included in the project, such as electro-magnetic fields and visual impact caused by overhead lines, as well as the mitigating measures will be assessed during appraisal. The project’s compliance with all applicable national and EU environmental legislation, including EU Directive 97/11/EC where relevant, will be verified by the Bank.

    Procurement

    The project is expected to follow the principles of the Utilities Directive 93/36/EC. As the investments will be geographically and technically independent, a general procurement notice in the OJEC may be required for main groups of homogeneous technical characteristics of the investment (e.g. transformers). The procurement procedures of the promoter will be assessed during appraisal.
