Objectives

The project concerns an investment programme for the construction and operation of 11 grid-connected wind farms, with a total capacity of 443 MW.

The project will support EU and national objectives to increase the proportion of electricity consumption generated from renewable sources in Portugal.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

The project falls under Annex II of Directive 85/337/EEC (as amended by 97/11/EC) on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The project is designed to meet all relevant environmental laws and regulation.

Contracts for the implementation of the wind farms included in the project will be tendered in accordance with the relevant EU procurement legislation (93/38/EEC). Tenders for the supply and construction of one of the wind farms were published in the EC Official Journal (ECOJ) while the remaining wind farms will be procured on the basis of a qualification system that was advertised in the ECOJ.
