The development finance arm of the European Investment Bank – EIB Global – signed today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) (PT SMI), an Indonesian state-owned enterprise acting as a catalyst for sustainable development. The memorandum of understanding advances their joint commitment to accelerating sustainable infrastructure development in Indonesia, including to facilitate a sustainable energy shift in the country in line with the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
The European Investment Bank, the bank of the European Union (EU) and the world’s largest multilateral lender, has opened a regional representation office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific in Jakarta, Indonesia. Finance Minister of the Republic of Indonesia Sri Mulyani Indrawati joined EIB Vice-President Kris Peeters, EU Ambassador to Indonesia Vincent Piket and EU Ambassador to ASEAN Igor Driesmans to formally open the EIB’s new office today. It is located at the same premises as the EU Delegation to Indonesia and to ASEAN, with a regional representation office in Suva, Fiji, covering the Pacific.
European Investment Bank (EIB) President Werner Hoyer will continue as the co-chair of the D20 Long-term Investors Club (D20-LTIC), following the decision of the club’s Steering Committee to extend his mandate for two more years. The D20-LTIC Steering Committee met on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Minister and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Denpasar, Indonesia, and also welcomed two new member organisations — the Hellenic Development Bank and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PTSMI), Indonesia’s national entity for infrastructure development.
