Hosted by the Welsh Government in collaboration with the Climate Group, the International Green Growth Summit in Wales was one of the first global events on climate action since COP21. The summit focused on how innovative government policy and smart business action can accelerate the transition to a thriving low carbon economy.

EIB Vice-President Jonathon Taylor, who is responsible for overseeing the financing of climate action, environment and energy at the bank chaired a session asking the question ‘How can we unlock the investment needed to support an innovative, thriving low carbon economy’. Prior to the conference VP Taylor visited one of the many environmental projects the EIB is investing in across Wales and announced further investment in the country.

As the world’s largest international public bank and as one of the largest lenders for climate action, last year the EIB provided nearly EUR 21 billion for climate related investment worldwide. The EIB has also played a key role in supporting long-term investment to improve social housing, education, energy infrastructure, transport and water infrastructure across Wales.
