The European Investment Bank has been involved with equity funds in Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and the Pacific for over two decades now. We have invested in over 100 funds in these regions, with total EIB commitments of over EUR 1bn. Investment in equity funds is an important activity for the Bank and represents another way for our financing to reach thousands of small and medium-sized businesses that need investment to grow, create jobs and meet the demands of evolving populations. As a long-term member of the African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (“AVCA”), the EIB will be a sponsor of the 16th annual AVCA conference to be held in Nairobi, Kenya on 1-3 April 2019 (https://www.avcaconference.com/) with a number of EIB Equity team professionals presenting the activities of the Bank in the space.
